Utopia: Metaphor Analysis
Metaphor Analysis
Utopia
While Utopia is not a work rich in metaphor, the island state of Utopia stands as a metaphor for an ideal society. It is also a metaphor for everything that is wrong with European society, in that greed and corruption are absent from Utopia.
Crescent moon
Utopia's crescent shape may be symbolic of the new waxing moon, a symbol of fertility, growth, and new beginnings. The crescent moon was associated in ancient Roman mythology with Diana, the virgin goddess of the hunt and chastity.
