SHAPING A NEW IDEAUntil the late 1980s, windows had been mostly rectangular. At that time, however, Sun Microsystems developed a system called NeWs (for "networked windows") for workstations in a local area network. NeWs supported windows of various shapes but was soon discontinued. |
