The Princess' Hunt - The princess' hunt
for a deer is successful and a metaphor of her success at Ferdinand's court. The deer is a symbol for
the king, and the killing of it the killing of Ferdinand's oath when he falls in love with her.
The Nine Worthies - Included, not
only to provide entertainment for the audience, The Nine Worthies and its mishaps were a metaphor by
Shakespeare representing the men trying to win the women's love. Nothing turned out right in the play,
just as nothing turned out as the men intended with the women they loved.
The King of Frances Death- This symbolizes that like
life, the time for making mockery is done. The men, having broken their oaths, must receive judgement
by the women that they love, much like a man must receive judgement by God upon his death. Also, this
represents a shift in the plays mood from merriment to seriousness. It helps emphasize the importance
of honor and trust in love.
