The pendant, the constable, and the curate sit at dinner discussing different things.  Their conversation falls to the Lord Armando whom they dislike.  Armando enters with the boy and tells the men that he has been put in charge of the evening's festivities that the King is throwing for the Princess of France.  He asks the men for their assistance in the entertainment, and they agree to help him.  Together, they decide to put on the play 'The Nine Worthies' and they assign each person different parts to play.
