The Provost asks Angelo if he really wants Claudio murdered, and Angelo states that he does. Provost then asks what's to be done with the woman he got pregnant, Juliet. Isabella and Lucio then enter and Isabella pleads her brother's case with Angelo. It doesn't seem to be working however, so Lucio tells her to get down on her knees and beg. Isabella continues arguing with Angelo until he finally relents and tells her to come back the next day to hear his judgement. Everyone leaves, and Angelo admits that he is in love with Isabella because of her virtue.
