The Prince of Morocco makes his choice in the lottery, choosing gold which bears the inscription, "Who chooseth me shall gain what many men desire. (II.vii.37)" He assumes that all men desire Portia as he does and so makes his choice. He is wrong and is sent away, with little upset from Portia.
