Don John and Borachio agonize about their foiled plans.  Despite everything, Claudio will marry Hero.  Suddenly, Borachio has an idea about how to thwart the marriage plans.  Borachio tells Don John that he will ask his friend/lover Margaret to dress up in Hero's clothes and make herself visible from the window.  Borachio will then openly caress and fondle her in public view.  In the dead of the night, Don John will summon Claudio and Don Pedro to catch "Hero" red-handed in her infidelity.  In the dim light, Margaret will be mistaken for Hero and the wedding plans will be called off.  The two leave to carry out their villainous scheme.
