Summary: In the loft in Teabing’s barn, Collet reviews the computerized surveillance system. It has been designed to spy on five prominent men—chief among them for the purposes of the police investigation is Jacques Saunière. Collet also discovers that his conversation with Fache earlier in the evening, discussing Sophie’s arrival at the Louvre, was recorded. He also finds plans for inserting a wiretapping device into the model of the medieval French knight that sat on Saunière’s desk.

Analysis: Another brief procedural chapter offers no answers, only more questions, regarding the surveillance of Saunière and the others, although readers may infer that the five men under surveillance are important leaders of the Priory of Sion.
